About this puzzle
African penguins live on the coast of South Africa and Namibia, and they have a nickname that tells you everything: the jackass penguin. That’s because their call sounds exactly like a braying donkey. They’re the only penguin that breeds in Africa, and some colonies share their beach with sunbathers.
In this photo both birds show the breed’s black and white markings, with a pink patch above each eye and a black stripe curving across the white chest. The beach is smooth, wet sand in soft gray and cream, so there’s nothing to distract from the two of them.
