About this puzzle
Foals start nibbling grass within their first couple of weeks, mostly because they copy whatever their mother does, but they don’t really need it yet. Milk stays the main meal for months, and a foal isn’t fully weaned until it’s around four to six months old. Until then the grass is mostly practice.
The photo catches the foal from below against a bright, almost white sky, so its reddish coat and white blaze glow against the pale background. The fluffy mane stands up along the neck, and the single blade of grass dangles from the lips right at the center of the picture.
