More puzzles to play
A group of sea otters rests among ropes of golden kelp in calm blue water, lit low and warm by an evening sun. One otter on the right holds its head up while two others huddle behind.
About this puzzle
The nearest otter floats on the right, face raised and paws held to its chest, its wet fur glowing amber in the light. To the left and slightly back, two more press into a dark clump. Long strands of kelp lie across the surface in curving gold and brown lines, and the water between them is a deep, calm blue.
Sea otters wrap themselves in kelp before they sleep so they don’t drift out to sea. A resting group is called a raft, and rafts usually split by sex, females and pups in one and males in another. This photo was taken off Tofino, on Vancouver Island.
How to play
Begin by setting the difficulty. Drag pieces with a mouse or by touch, and the ones that fit snap and lock. You can call up the full image to check your progress, and there’s no time pressure.
Tips for solving this one
Begin with the bright otter on the right, the sharpest and most colorful shape, then place the darker pair to its left. The kelp strands are strong curving lines that tie sections of water together, so build those next. The blue water’s the plainest part, so sort it by depth of color and finish there.
Common questions
Is it free?
Yes, free for everyone. No fees, no subscription, no sign in.
Does it work on a phone?
It’ll resize for phones and tablets, but the kelp and the raft of otters are easier to follow on a wider screen.
Can I change the difficulty?
Yes. A small count is a short break, a large one’s a long project with all that kelp and blue water. Your choice, set each game.
Will it save my progress?
Progress is held only while the tab’s open. Leave or close it and you’ll get a fresh board.
