About this puzzle
Dogs barely sweat, so panting is how they keep cool. When a dog opens its mouth and lets the tongue hang out, blood flow to the tongue increases and moisture evaporates off it, carrying heat away. The longer and wetter the tongue, the harder the dog is working to cool down.
In this photo the dog’s long, wavy black coat blends into the shadows on either side, so the pale pink tongue and the two glowing eyes are the only bright points. The nose sits just above the tongue, and the background fades from charcoal on the left to near black on the right.
How to play
Choose how many pieces you’d like, then move them with a mouse or your finger. A piece in the right spot snaps and locks. Peek at the full image whenever you need to, and there’s no time limit.
Tips for solving this one
Start with the tongue, then the eyes and nose, since those are the only high contrast pieces. The black fur has soft highlights along the ears and chest, so sort the dark pieces by how much sheen they show. The gray background is almost featureless, so leave it for last and trust the edge pieces.
